Well, crew didnt show so early on May 30th I up anchored and headed out onto Exuma Bight.....a rolling swell met me from the SE......and only 10 knots of wind astern.....I motor sailed under full genoa at 7 knots all the way to Little Farmers Cay . The cut through onto the Bank was tricky with a good tide against the swell.....20 minutes later Two Pelicans was sailing at 6 knots in 20 knots of wind under full main and genoa inside on the Exuma Bank......by 3.00pm we were anchored at Black Point. The next day I sailed to Staniels Cay where I spent the weekend. Here I met Paul and Sheryl Shard on their new Southerly 42 Distant Shores.
On Monday 2nd June I sailed to Normans Cay...alas Duffs Bar was closed......oh well.......they did leave the wifi on!!
My Wave RV long range antenna has worked pretty well, once I resealed it to keep out the elements!!
Up early to haul in the 80 feet of anchor chain and my new 60 lb CQR at slack water.By 8.00am I was sailing along at 5 knots heading around the Yellow Bank (to miss the coral heads as the water vis wasnt good) . It was an easy 40 mile sail.........I anchored at low tide just west of Potters Cay in Nassau harbour at 4.00pm.
I will be here until the 19th June........crew arrives on the 18th.......the plan is to head around the eastern side of The Berry Islands to Great Harbour Cay(Bullock Town) ;spend 2 days snorkeling etc and then head across the Bahama Bank to Bimini. Then with a good weather window we shall cross the Florida Straits 75 miles to Lake Worth inlet(West Palm Beach).
